Food Cures for Puffy Eyes

Having puffy eyes can be a real problem – especially when you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror. They happen because the eyes have swelled due to a variety of causes including, but not limited to: bad diet, allergies stress and changes in the weather.

Fortunately there are easy homemade remedies that you can use to help with this malady.

Drink water to get the body hydrated, not only does it help with this issue, but can help to flush out the toxin that may be a primary cause.

Cold Spoons
Use a half dozen cold spoons that have been chilling in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes. It can help to relax the blood vessels around the eyes which could alleviate the swelling. Simply hold the rounded end on the affected area until it become warm and then repeat with a fresh one.

Tea Bags
Either black or green tea bags could be your solution. As a bonus, they can be used as well. Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes before use. Lie down in a comfortable spot and place bags over eye lids. Leave on for 15 minutes. Repeat twice each day.

Cucumbers have natural astringent properties and when chilled make for a great anti-inflammation treatment. They help with dark circles as well. Put thick slices in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes. Place over eyes until they become warm (usually 10 minutes). Repeat as needed.

Egg Whites
This part of the egg has wrinkle prevention and skin tightening properties too.
Separate whites from yolks and beat until stiff peaks form. Add in a couple drops of witch hazel (astringent) and apply this mix with a soft cloth, allowing it to dry (typically 15 minutes). Try this every day for 3 to 4 days for best results.

This valuable tuber has starch which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. It can also help to fade dark circles too. Peel a medium sized spud and grate into a clean cloth. Tie the ends and place over your eyelids, leaving in place for a couple of minutes. Do this several times until symptoms are alleviated.
